If someone would have told me some years ago that I would start bagpiping lessons at the age of 50, I would have laughed very loud.
But when Djenne expressed her interest at age 7 it became a promise, and when she did it again at age 9, I didn't hesitate one moment and subscribed us both. A week later Yinti joined us.
A childhood dream was becoming true, and even better: the girls are part of the realisation.
And so I became a bagpiping student with the local band, where the bagpipe section consisted of only men.
But no worries, they're used to women, as the drummersection is enforced with several of them.
Our band doesn't wear a red tartan skirt, but a purple/blue one, like in the border of this page.
The colours are of the "Isle of Skye" tartan.
With a Henderson ancestor in the family, I feel drawn to the non-red tartans.
At the background of this site you can see the (modern) tartan of the family Henderson.
So I'm not a red dressed bagpiper, but a blue one.
