Wintersite birthday 50 years

feb 4 2006

When we went to bagpipelesson we moved from an area with no snow or ice at all, to a part of town with a layer of snow and iced streets.
Such a strange experience.

The girls had their lesson and I talked withsome other members, untill my own lesson started.

I was the only one of our group.
Such a strange exprience, because none has been looking tightly on my fingers (literally) since many, many years ago.
And then I didn't like it at all.

So what a nice way to deal with feelings of the past. LOL!
So I told the teacher that I had problems with this new practice chanter to get a sound out of it, mainly because my fingers wouldn't do what I wanted them to do.
So I got the instructions the others had those two times I hadn't been there, and got plenty of time to practice.

So now I feel confident and I'm doing quite well for a beginner.
The whole learning process makes me think about the time when I was 11 and learning to become a piper in a band.

When I was doing the exercises, I looked up and saw a stork flying by.
It was such a beautiful sight, and also so very unusual this time of year.
It made me think about the meaning: new beginnings, growth...

In the afternoon the girls went to the neighbour-woman.
She lives alone and had promised the girls some time ago that they could come to stay with her for thre weekend.

Ofcourse Yinti didn't want to go.
Already in the bus coming back from the lesson, she complained about nausea, and at home before she want she cried.

She is homesick, but not as much as she says she is. A part of it is theatre.
So I told her to go and realise there was only one wall between her and us.

Later they came here for a short moment to get the present they wanted to give, and again she started to cry.
She didn't know she had been seen when going away with the car and she smiled and had fun.
So I softly made her leave first and whispered in Djennes ear that Yinti was allowed to come home if she couldn't sleep at all.
It's now 22.45 and she's still not here, so she's alseep. And I'm sure she'll have a great time tomorrow too.
